Why is it that Lafferty and Eduardo get 2 game bans for diving, but if you
get caught during a game like McGeady or Nade, you only get a booking (and
therefore no ban - unless you go over a points limit)?

Shouldn't the punishment be the same whether you are caught at the time or
if you are caught after?

It does seem anomalous. However, Kyle Lafferty did play out the rest of the
game while Aiden was sent off, hence missed one third of that game too. A
straight red would be more suitable for a blatant dive caught during the
game and a two match ban for blatant dives that were missed during the game.
So there would still be a premium, although to a lesser extent, for
successfully coning the referee and potentially impacting the outcome of the
game.

Think Liam is right, usually the whole team suffers if a player gets sent off
during a game (Even if only for a few mins) where as someone getting away
with it plays out the game.Ok might not be totally fair but its never going
to be even in terms of time between being sent off or retrospective banning
so i guess its got to be the closest it can in times.Mind you just so long
as anyone diving gets a ban id be happy.

Just think of the time Boric would spend on the sidelines if that were to
happen ;o)

Eduardo managed to get a goal that Arsenal wasn't entitled to as a result of
his dive. Whereas, if a player is caught by the referee, then no harm is
done to the other team or to the game.

indeed, it does seem as if you're punishment is increased due to the
ineptitude of the ref...
